Women in 3D Printing Berlin: Different Paths, Different Crafts
Free Entry — please fill out the RSVP form to reserve your spot.
Three makers, Three relationships with 3D printing. Talks, questions, conversation, and connecting.
3D printing is finding its way into nearly every creative discipline, and it means something different in each one. Some build their practice around it from the start. Others discover it along the way, and it shifts what they thought was possible.
This evening brings together three women working across ceramics, multimedia art, and jewelry. Three disciplines, three different relationships to the same technology. They'll each share how 3D printing entered their practice and what it changed.
Three presentations, followed by time for questions, conversation, and connecting. A space to share knowledge, swap ideas, and meet others who are curious about using 3D printing in their discIplines.
The Speakers
Cindy Valdez (@migrationofmatter_studio)
Cindy is the founder of Migration of Matter, a Berlin-based studio where 3D printing isn't a tool added to a process — it is the process. Originally from Peru, she built her studio around custom-designed 3D printers and ceramic clay, creating organic tableware for fine dining restaurants that blends computational design with traditional hand-finishing. Cindy will speak about building a business from the ground up with 3D printing at its core.
Carolina Ovando (@errortemporal)
Carolina is a Berlin-based multimedia artist and designer. Her work spans video, 3D modeling, and digital sculpture, building dreamlike compositions around themes of memory, nature, and desire. She'll talk about the role 3D printing plays in bringing those worlds into physical form.
Ignacia Torres (@navaja.jwl)
Ignacia is a Berlin-based jeweller working in silver, pearls, and gemstones, creating custom pieces through traditional wax carving and handcraft. 3D printing came later as an additional tool in her practice. She'll talk about the role it has played in her work.
(Presentations will start around 19:00)
